9 Ways to Enjoy Halloween Fun on the Southern Oregon Coast

My goodness we Oregon Coast people LOVE our Halloween, don’t we? Aside from the costumes and candy, our events calendar is filled to the brim with spooky ghoulish fun for kids of all ages!  We have everything from a Halloween mudfest at Coos Bay Speedway to Haunted Houses and Costume parties to scary movies at the Egyptian Theatre. Here are some things to do this week to celebrate Halloween in the Coos Bay/North Bend/Charleston area.  Go out and get your spook on:

1.  Visit a Pumpkin Patch

2. Visit a Haunted House

Here on the coast, you have your pick of Haunted Houses. There is the North Bend Police’s Haunted House for a boo scary good time! Located at Old Sapphires Building, 2470 Tremont Ave, North Bend (next to the Pancake Mill. Oct 26 – 30 6pm-10pm (Oct 31 6pm – Midnight) $4 Children 12 and under, $5 adults.

For a more theatrical experience, visitors will enjoy the Little Theatre on the Bay Haunted House. Who better to “act” like vampires, ghosts and ghouls than community actors? Costumes pulled from LTOB’s own costume room, lighting specials and wicked music effects and mazes that would fool a rat. Located at 2100 Sherman Ave in North Bend. 3. Watch a scary movie

Don’t stay home and rent a horror movie- get out and take in a classic fright flick as part of the Classic Movies at the Egyptian Theatre series. The Egyptian Theatre is located at 299 S. Broadway (hwy 101).For more movie listings, visit www.Egyptian-Theatre.com for schedule and prices.

4. Go to a Monster Bash

Get your Monster Mash on at The Bay Area Chamber of Commerce 2nd Annual Halloween Monster Bash on Saturday, October 30, 2010 in The Salmon Room West! All guests (21 and older) are welcome to attend this event! Enjoy a No-Host Bar and a Costume Contest with Fabulous Prizes. Tickets are $10.00 for Chamber Members and $15.00 for Non-Chamber Members and are available through KoKwel Gifts located at The Mill Casino. 5. Go Trick or Treating

Annual Downtown Safe Trick or Treat Oct 29, 2010
Downtown Coos Bay, 3pm – close. Pick up a list of locations at the Coos Bay Fire Department at 450 Elrod.
Join the stores of downtown Coos Bay, just look in the windows for the big giant orange pumpkin poster. Call Beth at 541-269-5312 for more information.

Safe Halloween at Pony Village Mall

October 31 Pony Village Mall, 1611 Virginia Avenue

6. Go to a Mud Fest

That’s right- a Halloween Mud Fest! Oct 31, 2010 Coos Bay Speedway Mud Drag Races
Hwy 42, Coos Bay. Pit Gate opens at noon, Racing, 6pm.

7. Photograph Paranormal Activity

8. Take the Kids to the Coos Bay Public Library Halloween Program

Saturday, October 30. TWO shows, 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 pm. Philip & Henry Productions’ A Halloween Magic Show. A fast-paced comedy magic show with an emphasis on fun. All ages welcome.

9. Solve a Murder Mystery

In this murder/mystery event, you’ll be attending the fictional Vegas Paramount Casino, the largest and most extravagant casino on the strip for a party to remember. The stakes are going to be high and there’s no limit to what could happen. From the powerful politician to the sexy show girl, the cunning cocktail waitress to Elvis himself – the guest list is as unlimited as the possibilities of how the night will end.
Like everything else in Vegas, the party will be a gamble and there’s no certainty to the events of the evening. 6-8pm.
