From June 10, 2011 – July 23, 2011 Coos Art Museum presents Thunder at CAM: An Exhibition of Motorcycles and Motorcycle Art. The exhibition combines vintage motorcycles with examples of contemporary art about motorcycles.

Following a jury process 62 art works by 36 artists were selected for the show. The participating artists come from 15 states and Canada; some as near as Coos Bay and others as far away as Cape Canaveral, Florida. Oregon artists include Steven Ash of Lakeside, Pete Chasar of Brookings, Bobbie Kelly of Coos Bay, Cora Larson of Myrtle Creek, Carol Miranda of Charleston, Roland Miranda of Charleston, Damon Mitchell of Eugene, N. Sommer of Coos Bay, William F. Storm of Ashland, and Dale Wells of Brookings. The art works are in all media from photography to wire sculpture.

These art works along with dozens of classic motorcycles will occupy both floors of the Museum.

This splendid display of motorcycles, art and motorcycle culture will occupy both floors of the Museum and promises to be a major motorcycle and art event. The exhibition will open Friday, June 10, with a public reception from 5 to 7pm. Admission will be charged to non-museum members at the opening event of this extraordinary exhibition. Museum admission is $5 general, $2 students and seniors.
