Wondering where you can find some holiday magic this year on Oregon’s South Coast? We’re so glad you asked! With November upon us, it’s the perfect time to do a “Holiday Event Roundup” featuring some of the upcoming events that will grace Oregon’s Adventure Coast this 2019 holiday season!
If you’re among those traveling from out-of-town to see the Holiday Lights this year, we hope you’ll stick around and experience more of what Oregon’s Adventure Coast has to offer. So without further ado, grab your Santa hat and get ready to be festive!
November 28, 2019- Thanksgiving Dinner at The Mill Casino Savor roast turkey and all the trimmings, side dishes and dessert from The Mill’s own bakery; or enjoy a bayfront Traditional Turkey Dinner from 11 am - 2:30 pm & 4 pm - 9 pm in the Plankhouse Restaurant. Thanksgiving buffet will be presented in Saw Blade Buffet from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm or in the Salmon room for parties of 6 or more. Reservations for large parties are strongly encouraged.
November 28, 2019-December 31, 2019: Holiday Lights at Shore Acres Famous for its beautiful 7-acre botanical gardens and Japanese lily pond, the gardens at Shore Acres State Park shine with more than 325,000 lights. 4 pm – 9:30 pm every night Thanksgiving through New Year’s Eve at Shore Acres State Park in Charleston, Oregon; just west of Coos Bay ($5 parking fee per vehicle). November 29, 2019: Coos Bay Tree Lighting and Visit with Santa 5:30 p.m. Join Santa as he lights the 30 foot Christmas Tree in downtown Coos Bay. The event takes place at the Coos Bay Visitor Information Center. Cider and cookies will be served as visitors await Santa’s arrival. Following the tree lighting is the annual showing of ELF at the Historic Egyptian Theatre. Entry to the movie is FREE with a pair of new clean socks for the snowball fight scene. Socks will be donated to local shelters after the showing.
December 2- 11, 2019: 2019 Festival of Trees Each year, The Mill Casino invites local businesses, individuals and organizations throughout the community to sponsor and decorate a tree or wreath for a worthy cause. Trees will be on display in the hotel lobby December 3 – 11, 2019. Holiday Tree Showcase & Benefit Auction will be held at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, December 11, 2019. Doors open at 5:30 pm for those with reserved tables for dinner. 6:45 pm doors open to the public. The Auction is free to attend. All proceeds benefit Coos Bay – North Bend Rotary programs such as Shots for Tots and the Kids HOPE Center. Click here for more info.
December 7, 2019: Coos History Museum & Maritime Collection Holiday Open House and Artisan’s Market Enjoy a free day at the museum in addition to a Holiday Open House and Artisan’s Market from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. Exhibits and museum store are open all day featuring a select group of artisans for holiday shopping and hands-on craft activities for the young and the young at heart! Artisan’s market and kids’ activities will end at 3 pm, but the museum will remain open until 5 pm. Click here for more info.
December 7, 2019: North Bend Christmas Celebration and Lighted Truck Parade Santa arrives at 3 p.m. The tree lighting begins at 5 p.m. and is followed by the lighted parade at 5:30 p.m. This year North Bend will be having a Holly Jolly Christmas where you’ll enjoy tasty morsels to eat, music, crafts, cider, a visit from Santa…and for the grand finale the tree lighting and a Christmas Parade. A small gift and stocking will be given to each child. There will be craft activities and goodies, a bicycle drawing for the kids and poinsettia drawings for the adults. December 7, 2019: Empire Tree Lighting Celebration
Santa will arrive on a Fire Engine and light the tree in Coos Bay’s Empire District. Enjoy refreshments, live music and be sure to vote for your favorite Christmas village! The tree is located at the Star of Hope Center at 657 Newmark Ave. Festivities begin at 5 p.m. Presented by the Community Coalition of Empire.
