Paddling the waters of the Coos Bay area on a guided tour is a wonderful opportunity to learn something new and experience the Oregon Coast in a way you never had before. Here are some local guides to check out:

  • South Coast Tours offers a guided Wildlife Viewing Kayak Tour of South Slough Estuary that typically lasts about 2.5 hours.
  • Wavecrest Discoveries offers nature-based half-day paddling tours on the Coos Estuary, on the lower Coquille River or on Eel Lake.
  • Guided tours of the *South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve (SSNERR), a protected area of land and estuary, are offered several times a year. Visit for upcoming events. SSNERR does not provide boats for participants, but they provide a trained naturalist guide and a shuttle to transport vehicles to the endpoint of the five-mile trip. All participants must bring their own boat, safety equipment, and a vehicle to transport their boat.
