Founded in 2016 by classical pianist Hunter Noack, IN A LANDSCAPE: Classical Music in the Wild is an outdoor concert series where America’s most stunning landscapes replace the traditional concert hall. In a Landscape brings a 9-foot Steinway grand piano on a flatbed trailer to National & State Parks, urban greenspaces, working ranches, farms, and historical sites for classical music concerts that connect people with each landscape.

To meet the acoustical challenges of performing in the wild, music is transmitted to concert-goers via wireless headphones. No longer confined to seats, concert goers can explore the landscape, wander through the Shore Acres garden, lie in sunny meadows, and roam along the rugged cliffs.

ABOUT THIS LANDSCAPE

Perched on craggy sandstone cliffs high above the ocean, Shore Acres State Park celebrates two sorts of beauty: ruggedly organic and masterfully constructed.

Once the grand estate of timber baron Louis J. Simpson, Shore Acres features a formal garden inspired by the original, with plants and flowers from all over the world. Visitors find a Japanese-style garden with a lily pond and two carefully curated rose gardens that include All-American Rose Selections.

Get here early to explore trails beyond the garden that lead to a secluded ocean cove at Simpson Beach.

SEATING

No chairs will be provided. We recommend bringing low-back chairs, in consideration of your neighbor’s view.

DIRECTIONS/PARKING
Shore Acres State Park sits high on the cliffs overlooking the Pacific Ocean, 13 miles southwest of Coos Bay/North Bend and US Highway 101. Take Cape Arago Highway from Coos Bay, the park is located about 4 miles west of the small fishing village of Charleston.

$10.00 per day parking fee at Shore Acres State Park. Credit and debit cards accepted at the Kiosk. A valid annual State Park Pass or Oregon Coastal Pass will be accepted for parking.

ARRIVAL - We suggest arriving up to 45 minutes prior to concert time in order to park, reach the site, check-in, get your headphones and get cozy before the concert starts.

PETS - No animals are permitted in Shore Acres, except for service animals.

FOOD & DRINK - Outside food/drink is permitted. Bring a picnic and enjoy the beautiful setting while you dine!

RESTROOMS - Restrooms are available on site.

SMOKING - Smoking is prohibited at all times. FIRE DANGER IS VERY REAL, and we acknowledge this with the utmost seriousness. Help us keep the area safe!

ACCESSIBILITY - There is a paved path from the parking lot to the concert site.

CELL COVERAGE - Cell coverage on Oregon’s rural roads and in remote concert locations is unpredictable. Please be aware that you may not have a signal in all locations. Please print or download directions before you leave.

EXTREME WEATHER /CANCELLATION - This is a rain or shine event. We encourage guests to bring rain protection as needed. In the case of extreme weather or severe smoke, IAL will cancel by 9am the day of the performance and notify all ticketed patrons.

MERCHANDISE - We will have new merchandise available at our concerts this year, where permitted.
