Local Secrets to Finding the Best Clam Chowder?

This time of year; everyone is looking for a heaping bowl of hot Clam Chowder to keep us going, right?  I checked with some of our local aficionados to see who officially has “the best Clam Chowder in town” and wanted to share this info with visitors!

The key is to know the local secrets. Some of the best Clam Chowders around are only made on specific days in unlikely places- and you just have to know about it to enjoy.  Here are some of the secrets that I was able to uncover:

Davey Jones Locker – this is just a little convenience store but they have a great deli area. On Saturday’s only they serve a rocking clam chowder, don’t wait too long to go though, once its gone…its gone. Cape Arago Highway & Boat Basin Rd, Charleston, (541) 888-3941

Outdoor-In This pizza and indoor playground is perfect for the kids, and is not the usual place you’d think of for Clam Chowder. In a recent poll, they were voted the #1 Clam Chowder on the South Coast and its well deserved. High Tide Café
A roaring fire place, awesome fish & chips, great beer, and over the top Clam Chowder. The Coach House in Coos Bay
Cindy from our Facebook community recommends their Chowder.  We followed her advice and she was right, one of the best and had that perfect little pat of butter for extra goodness!
