Popular Farmers Market Returns to Oregon’s Adventure Coast: Coos Bay, North Bend, Charleston for 2023!

The Coos Bay Downtown Association’s (CBDA) Coos Bay Farmers Market will again gather local farmers, artisans, and food vendors to sell their goods to the public every Wednesday during the months of May through October, 2023! The market’s new season kicks off on Wednesday, May 3rd, with a live radio broadcast with market sponsor, KShore, Bicoastal Media.

The beloved event and community staple will offer various goods and activities to residents and visitors on Oregon’s Adventure Coast, including an abundance of food, music, entertainment, samples, demonstrations, artistic treasures, children’s programs, food accessibility programs, and fresh locally grown produce. Visitors can interact with vendors, learn about their products, and support their businesses.

The market has a rich history and has been a fixture of the downtown Coos Bay community for years. What began as a small group of farmers and artisans who wanted to sell their products directly to the public in 1973, has grown into one of the most popular outdoor farmers markets on the Oregon Coast, offering fresh produce, baked goods, locally sourced seafood/meat, homemade crafts, jams/jellies and so much more!  It has also become a popular tourist attraction, drawing visitors from all over the region who are interested in experiencing the local culture and cuisine.

What to Expect at the Coos Bay Farmers Market 2023 Season

The CBDA Coos Bay Farmers Market 2023 season promises to be an exciting event for both locals and visitors. Here’s what you can expect this season!

  • The 2023 CBDA Coos Bay Farmers Market will take place every Wednesday, starting May 3rd through October 25th, from 9 am to 2 pm in the heart of the Historic Coos Bay Downtown District (on Central Avenue between Highway 101 South and 4th Street in downtown Coos Bay), providing a beautiful backdrop for shoppers to enjoy.

  • Visitors can expect to find a wide variety of products at the market from 90+ vendors, including fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, honey, jams, and more. There will also be a selection of handmade crafts and artisanal products, including jewelry, pottery, and textiles.

  • CBDA Coos Bay Farmers Market sponsor, So It Goes Coffeehouse, will continue to provide music throughout the season with the return of Music at the Market.

  • “Farm Fresh to Every Fork” will continue to be a main focus of the CBDA Food Accessibility program, thanks to CBDA Coos Bay Farmers Market sparkling Emerald sponsor, Ziply Fiber. The program is intended to ensure that those in need have fair access to farm fresh fruits, vegetables, and basic food items needed for a healthy, well balanced diet at no cost to them. The program also educates the public on the importance of healthy eating and how to stretch your food budget for those items.

  • The $20 Double Up Food Buck (DUFB) match for fruits and veggies will be available the entire season. That means individuals who put $20 on their SNAP/EBT card at the Market Informational booth will receive $40 worth of tokens and vouchers to use at the Market! WIC and Senior Nutritional vouchers will be happily accepted at the CBDA Farmers Market.

  • The market is easily accessible by car, bike, or on foot, and there is plenty of parking available nearby.
